Thankful for Years of Service
Competition for skilled tradespeople has been significant in recent years. Manny, CFP’s Fresh Production Supervisor, who is celebrating 34 years with Channel Fish Processing in 2024, shared the secret to his long tenure: respect. The company has offered him the chance to learn new procedures, take on additional responsibilities, and share his thoughts and ideas openly with the senior leadership team. Manny cultivates that same culture of respect among his co-workers. He speaks five languages, which breaks down communication barriers and allows him to focus on getting the best from his team. His early career training as a math teacher also comes in handy as he implements new procedures and solves problems. Maria on the fresh production team proudly shared, with a broad smile, that this is the only job she’s ever had.
Per Chairman Roy Zaffiro, who has been working in the family business since 1975, “We are a family-owned company, and our culture is focused on treating employees like family. This means that we create a good, safe, and honest workplace that is focused on employee success. In thinking about employee success, I do not simply mean I want them to be good workers. I want our employees to become successful, to make a good living and provide well for their families, just as I would want for someone in my own family.
