Salmon is one of the most popular species of fish at Channel Fish Processing. We know our consumers love salmon, as it’s great in health benefits and it’s available often. Salmon goes a long way with its rich and enticing flavor. The flavor is unlike any other fish. Some white fishes taste similar, but you can’t pinpoint a fish with a similar flavor to salmon. This makes the fish so unique, and easy to prepare as you don’t have to add much to make it great.
When you cook salmon, you don’t have to go crazy with seasoning or marinade (unless you want to, of course!) The flavor of the fish alone is a great base to center your meals around. Consider these ways to prepare and serve salmon to enjoy the simplicity of this fish.
Blackened
Pan-seared or blackened salmon is very popular. Lightly sear the edges of your salmon cut with olive oil, capers, and lemon juice. Serve this blackened salmon over a bed of angel hair pasta tossed in olive oil, basil, parsley, salt, and pepper.
Roasted
Roast a cut of salmon in the oven. Toss the cut in lemon juice and ground pepper. Bake at 400 degrees for 11-13 minutes. This is an awesome way to go with salmon when you’re preparing a large dish or multiple meals.
Broiled
Broil a cut of salmon in the oven along with sliced lemons and oranges. The fruit will give the salmon a slightly tropical flavor, and is perfect when paired with rice and fresh steamed vegetables.
With an enticing fish like salmon, you don’t need to go crazy or dress it up too much to get that “wow” factor out of your customers. Enjoy the simple pleasure of salmon by pairing with mild, classic flavors, and keeping the dressings/marinades to a minimum. In the end, it’s all up to you, how you decide to prepare and present your salmon dish.
How do you serve your favorite dish of salmon? What do you pair your fish with? Did you try any of these ways to prepare and present? Which worked out best for you?
